An attractive aquarium or fish tank in your home will amuse and delight your guests and bring you admiration and recognition. And discus fish are an excellent choice to display in your personal aquarium. Unlike many tropical species, the vividly colored, attractive discus can easily adapt to aquariums.

But they do possess certain habits which will need the correct care in order that they may enhance your fish tank for a long time.

They are timid fish, and because of this they may not like it if you place other fish in the tank with them. But, using these tips will help make sure that you don't have any issues with your discus fish.

The following tips will help you take care of discus fish:

1. Be sure to keep the aquarium's water at a temperature of 74 to 82 degrees. This temperature is great for the discus fish because the temperature is about the same as the water they are used to in the wild.

2. You need to also make sure that the pH level stays around 6.5 to 7.5. In the event the water achieves too much acidity, bring it back down by adding soda.  

3. Use filter pumps to ensure the water is always clean.  You will also need to make sure the filter is cleaned on a regular basis so that is works the way it should.

4. Discus fish only eat certain food, so be sure to get food that is made for them. Feed them small meals, but do it often, as this promotes growth.

5. The discus fish do not like a lot of noise, so you should be sure to put their tank in an area of your house that is quiet.
